Easter in Iowa

WE'RE BACK!
We have spent the past 8 days visiting Kendal's side of the family in Iowa for the Easter holiday. It was so nice to see everyone again since we haven't been out that way since Thanksgiving time. The weather felt just as cold as it did back in November so a lot of our plans were put on hold but we had a great time just lounging in everyone's company! Could not have been a more relaxing week! I am in the process of going through the photo's I took while away and it looks like we snapped over 200 pictures. I've chose some of my favorites to share with everyone! Hope you all enjoy!

Four Generations: Grandpa Dixon Mom Kendal & Jared Gaige & Kenndey

Our first Easter morning with our little Bunny wasn't quite what we had pictured it would be. Saturday Evening Kennedy came down with a low-grade fever. It progressed throughout the night up over 102 and she was up about every 40minutes to an hour screaming.Needless to say mom and dad didn't get much sleep, we missed church and spent the early part of the afternoon catching cat naps here and there. Mid-afternoon we headed over to Kendal's Uncle's in Nebraska for dinner and then over to their church for a dedication service in their honor. As for Kennedy, she kept a fever for the next 2 days when we decided to take her to the Children's Hospital in Omaha. They couldn't find anything wrong with her and told us to keep up with Motrin & Tylenol. Her fever has finally broke but she now has a runny nose and refuses to eat. So we'll see....

It should be lots of fun and we are looking forward to it! Thanks for everything this week, we love you all!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

What can I say...we don't like to sit still for long! Another jam packed weekend has come to a halt. Kendal finally got off alert on Friday morning...This week seemed to drag on FOREVER, simply because when he is on call I can't leave Kennedy alone with him for even a second just in case something were to happen. Which means she is attached to my hip 24/7 all week long and it becomes exhausting by the end of the work week! We spent pretty much every day in the house this week because it was very rainy & dreary out. We did our typical mommy's groups on Tuesday & Wednesday but other than that we tried to lay low. Here our a few shots from our gloomy days spent in our pj's!

She loves feet!
On Friday, the sun finally came out and we were blessed with gorgeous weather all weekend long! It hit 80' on Friday so some of the ladies from our "wives" mommy group headed over to the annual Summerville Flowertown Festival. It is a weekend long festival full of rides, games, food and a 300 different vendors selling every and anything! We spent a good four hours at the festival and had a great time! The minute I got home from the afternoon with the ladies, Kendal had me change Kennedy and pile back into the car because he had arranged dinner plans with Brian & Andrea and Jamie! We went to Wild Wings for a delious dinner and then a special trip over to Cold Stone for a yummy treat! Such a great start to the weekend!

We have been named "The Baby Brigade" by several spectators. We are missing a few of our Mommy's ~ These are the wives of Kendal's Co-workers, we are all stay at home moms and started a "mommys group" twice a week back in January. It is so nice to have such a great support system made up of such amazing women!

Mommy forgot Kennedy's hat so she was wearing an extra one that belonged to a 4 month old...She looked so silly!

CHEESE!

Her snacks spilled everywhere and she was piling them into her mouth as fast as she possibly could before Kylee could clean them all up. She looked like a little squirl with nuts in her mouth!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early. The families of Kendal's office were throwing a suprise wedding shower for our very dear friends that afternoon. I had to make two desserts, several salads and a couple of games and prizes. We headed to the BBQ (shower) around two o'clock and Amy & Alan (the bride and groom) were stunned when they walked in! We totally pulled it off! It was a beautiful day, in the upper 70's all afternoon! We had so much fun and stayed out until about 8pm. We headed home, put Kennedy to bed and then our friends Chris & Jess stopped over. I fell asleep on the couch and don't remember much of the evening, but they were here until around mid-night! At this point in the weekend...we are exhausted, but its not over yet!!!

The Men

On Sunday once again...up bright and early, on the phone with the gang, making plans for the day! The Cajun Festival was in town this weekend out on James Island. So a bunch of us met over at our house around 11:30am and headed over to the park. The festival is set up in a huge field with tons and tons of food and craft vendors and awesome bands playing. So we took our camp chairs and blankets and spent the afternoon stuffing our faces and jammin to the music! It was slightly over cast with a drop here and there, but for the most part another beautiful day! We had a great weekend and I'm kind of bummed that we will be missing out on all of the fun in the upcoming week but we have bigger and better fish to fry (probably, literally LOL) Iowa here we come! We are driving up to Charlottle tomorrow evening and jumping on a plane around 7am Tuesday morning! If all goes well, we should be in Omaha around noon on Tuesday! BYE BYE sunshine...hello again snow!! See you all soon!!

Waiting for the gang to get here!

About Me

Kendal and I have been married for 4 years. We have 2 gorgeous children, Kennedy and Colton, who are the center of our lives. We currently own a home in beautiful Charleston, Sc but with Kendal's career in the USAF things are always changing. We have decided to create this blog as a way to keep in touch with our friends and family who are unfortunately spread all over the U.S. and for our own personal memories! Enjoy!
